An invaluable website marketing tool
One of the most invaluable website marketing tools I've ever seen is MarketingSherpa's Marketing Wisdom 2005 book. This free, 51 page pdf is filled with real-life lessons online marketers have learned during the past year.
Like you, I've read tons of marketing books and attended a bunch of marketing seminars. But this tool is truly different. There are 105 real-life lessons on topics like pay-per-click advertising, search engine optimization, email marketing...and others.
Each entry contains up-to-the-minute information written by a marketing practitioner. These people live in the trenches day in and day out. Check it out.
Also look closely at #19...it's from yours truly. I'm honored to be included this year...

Hi Jay.
I'd suggest you also took a look at Aaron Wall's seobook.com - it's an ebook that will take you (without trying to sound like a walking ad heh..) from first steps to some fairly advanced techniques and practices in SEO.
Aarons a mate of mine, but the book is regarded within the seo/sem industry as being a pretty definitive work.

Here's another - it's a good overal primer - but be warned, this stuff is best done for you by a pro - Google bans websites for many reasons, and most of them have to do with optimizing websites.

Great stuff. I'm a regular lurker at www.highrankings.com but this is another good resource.
PS Looks like this info & your comments lead to the need for a "Top 10 Reasons Google bans Websites" checklist. My special report "The Top 10 Marketing Mistakes Small Businesses Make" is popular I think because people like to know about obvious mistakes.
